Locally Rooted. Globally Informed. Focused on the Early Years.
TECEC is a small, community-based organization supporting the healthy development of young children (0–8 years) in low-income families across Tanzania. With deep roots in the communities we serve and insights drawn from global best practices, we deliver practical, high-impact solutions during the most critical years of a child’s life.
Our Core Interventions
Early Learning & Play:
We support public preschool teachers with local learning tools, run safe play hubs, and help families engage in play-based learning at home.
Maternal Health & Nutrition:
We promote early stimulation, nutrition education, and regular check-ups. Our maize flour fortification project helps prevent malnutrition in mothers and children.
Childcare Learning Hub:
A welcoming space for caregivers to connect, learn, and grow — complemented by a home visiting program that brings support directly to families.
Every child deserves a strong start. We blend local knowledge with global insight to make that possible.

Why Early Childhood Matters
Why Early Childhood Matters
The first five years of life are foundational. During this time, children develop essential cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills. For children facing poverty, lack of early support can lead to lifelong challenges. That’s where TECEC steps in.
What Makes Us Different
Community-Rooted: Our team lives and works within the communities we serve. This deep local connection helps us understand the specific needs of each family.
Focused on Developmental Delays: We identify early signs of delay and offer support through inclusive education, family guidance, and referrals.
Maximizing Impact with Modest Resources: With limited funding, we prioritize practical, high-impact interventions that reach those who need them most.
Testimonials
As a first-time father, I wasn’t sure how to help my child develop. The Hub taught me how to communicate with her and why early play is important. Now I feel more confident and connected to my daughter. Michael, father and first-time caregiver
I never realized how important nutrition is for my child’s learning. The Hub helped me understand how to prepare simple, nutritious meals and how it affects brain development. Now I involve my child in meal prep, and we both enjoy it!Neema, mother of two
What I love most about the Hub is meeting other parents. We share ideas, encourage each other, and I no longer feel alone in this journey. It feels like a second family that truly cares about our children’s future.Julius, father of a preschooler
